Case Studies

Our “no cure, no pay” philosophy means that if we don’t recover funds on your behalf, there’s no charge. We base our fee on the amount we recover – there’s no risk in coming to SubroGateway. The following case studies illustrate how our recovery experts get results that will meet your expectations and more!

Case Study No. 1 – Claim Recovery (click to expand)

Our client, a large property and casualty insurer we’ll call YYZ Insurance Inc., has recovered funds on many claims through SubroGateway’s efforts. YYZ doesn’t have the expertise or in-house resources to devote to recoveries and has come to rely on and trust our services.

YYZ Insurance Inc. paid a claim in 2008 as a result of an auto collision. YYZ came to us to recover some of this claim payment because the collision was caused by a third party who lost control of their vehicle and struck the insured’s vehicle. After a short investigation to confirm the details of the case, we were able to recover more than 80 per cent of the paid claim amount from the third party’s insurer.

Similarly, on a 2009 auto accident claim for a rear-end collision that resulted in a total loss, we were able to recover almost the entire amount paid to the principal insured by YYZ. A police report confirmed the accident was caused by a third party, and we were able to seek reimbursement from that party’s insurer.

Case Study No. 2 – Recovering Deductibles (click to expand)

Once a claim settlement amount is paid to a claimant it can sometimes be challenging for the insurer to get reimbursement of the deductible from the policyholder. That’s where SubroGateway comes in – recovering deductible amounts is one of our key strengths.

Our client, One-Two-Three Insurance Company, insures a popular entertainment venue for commercial general liability. Over a number of years there were several slip and fall accidents at the venue. Amounts were paid to settle claims and for liability expenses, but One-Two-Three had difficulty recovering the deductible from the venue.

After our initial review of the case we attempted to contact the insured by following the trail established in the file. We forwarded the claim to the third party and then attempted to follow up. Through our efforts and research we determined that initial attempts to recover the deductible by our client were being directed to the wrong parties. This was the main reason for the lack of progress. Through SubroGateway’s diligence and continued effort we were able to find the correct party, establish contact, and secure a full recovery for One-Two-Three. Both the client and the insured were satisfied with the outcome as SubroGateway completed the recovery while maintaining the sensitive business relationships among all parties.
